Ep. 2 - Mindset Beyond Me: Family, Community, and Change – with Wendal Yoder
When Wendal Yoder left his successful business, it wasn’t burnout, it was clarity. He realized that the grind and success on paper weren’t enough if they came at the cost of alignment, purpose, and presence with his family.
But what makes Wendal’s journey even more powerful is where it started.
Wendal is Amish and began working at 14. His upbringing, like that of many in traditional communities, centred on humility and hard work. As someone whose mother is Mennonite, I deeply resonated with the magnitude of what it means to pursue personal development in that context. Choosing a mindset of abundance, expansion, and emotional growth is not just personal, it’s generational.
I met Wendal and his brothers at World Class Wealth hosted by Voss Coaching Co. in Scottsdale, Arizona, in January 2025. I was immediately struck by their presence. They were grounded and totally lit up by purpose. These weren’t just men chasing success, they were embodying a shift.
With the mentorship of Arash Vossoughi and the Voss Coaching Co. team, Wendal didn’t just change his external circumstances, he changed his identity at a fundamental and deep level. He lost 40 pounds not by dieting, but by deciding to become someone who lives a healthy, vibrant life. That mindset shift of being the thing rather than chasing the outcome is the heart of true transformation.
He may not agree with me, but in my view Wendal is among the 3% of people who truly embrace where mindset work can take them.
This episode of the GrowthShifters Podcast is not just about business or self-help. It’s about what’s possible when we stop living by default and start living by design. Wendal’s decision to shift his identity changed his marriage, the way he parents, and even inspired his siblings to pursue growth in their own lives.
We talk about:
Why mindset matters more than “the grind”
How family and community benefit when one person shifts
Letting go of identities that no longer serve you
The relationship between purpose, faith, and wealth
How to become the version of you that already has the results you want
